I am a professional triathlete with 10 years of elite level triathlon racing experience in the ITU Sprint and Standard, and Ironman 70.3 distances. I have competed on:
My current racing focus is the Ironman 70.3 Professional Series. Outside of sport, I have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science.
I create training programs based on science-based training heuristics that also recognize the human element of the athlete.
Within my triathlon career, I trained through inflexible programs that failed to address my own adaptation to and recovery from training. I faced overtraining, illness, and an inability to progress as an athlete. I resolved this with self-coaching. I applied my computer science honed analytical abilities to my training data and combined it with my years of knowledge from competing in elite sport.
I have now regained my full health and have consistently climbed through the professional 70.3 rankings, achieving a podium spot at the 2024 Challenge Quebec. My training philosophy has grown and evolved from these experiences, and I look forward to sharing them with you.
There is a person behind every athlete, and my training programs put that person on centre stage. Success is defined through the holistic health of the individual – their athletic health and success as well as personal health and success. Your life outside of sport, friends, family, and work is prioritized, and your program is built to be streamlined into your life.
I utilize regular athlete testing to identify training zones appropriate for each athlete. These zones are applied to create personalized training programs. Data regarding athlete health and recovery is closely monitored and used to drive decision making regarding program progression.
Triathlon is a sport that can be participated in throughout your life, and my programs are built with the intent of empowering athletes to do so. Practically, this means building consistent and resilient athletes who have a foundation of technical skill, aerobic base, and strength.
As someone playing catch up in a professional sport, most coaches have just burned me into the ground trying to get me there. Brennen is someone who has a great understanding of sport, loads of experience and knowledge, and he applies it very well to his training method. You know how most coaches tell you to push harder when you don't feel well? That’s the opposite here. Brennen focusses on objective recovery metrics and perceived fatigue to properly manage training load. I’ve been under him now for two years and confidently can say that I’m the best I have every been in all three disciplines. His method works. Period.
